What's On October 2013

So much has been happening around the region that you must agree we have been almost spoilt for choice. Thank goodness the sun shone for this
year's Blossom Festival in Alexandra and the threatening puffy black clouds hung around the hills without sending a drop downwards. In the past there has been many a freezing Saturday, with young ones, out in the elements on flowery floats, shivering in their leotards. But not this year - it was even hot at times!
Alexandra Musical Society has pulled off another amazing production and this year's was 'BUDDY' The Buddy Holly Story. It played to a series of full houses and had the audience singing along - also ending with standing ovations! Congratulations to director/maestro Bryan Aitken and hats off to this group for bringing such talent to the stage with a performance that really touched people’s hearts.
The second 'Across the Bridge in Bannockburn' was held last weekend and was also greatly enjoyed by all. Organisers were thrilled by the success of the two day arts celebration and see this as becoming a regular part of our annual cultural calendar.
Coming up is the Arts Gold Awards Ceremony on Friday 25th of October. Enjoy a great evening out to view the exhibition of finalists in this national art competition Be there when the judges announce who will win the $5,000 Art Excellence Award and the $2,000 Central Otago Artist Award! Tickets, which are just $20 and include drinks, nibbles, music and of course all the fine art, are available from all Central Otago I-Sites, or to purchase online tickets - just
click here. For more info, check the listing below, as well as for everything else to entertain you in Central! Cheers
