28 May — 6 June: Thames Civic Centre

Using the iconic music of Queen as the backbone, this humorous musical looks into a future where the youth of the world and music itself are controlled by social media and AI technologies.

Gin & Jazz: Whitianga

Andy Dickson: Whitianga

1 July 2026

Andy Dickson — frontman/guitarist with Kiwi legends The Narcs — will head 'across the ditch' from Brisbane in July to entertain North Island crowds with some of his favourite Australian and New Zealand songs, from bands he is influenced by or has a personal connection with.

Get ready to sing along with Andy Dickson to songs which have become the soundtrack of our lives, from artists like INXS, Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly, Cold Chisel, DD Smash, Dance Exponents and many more.

Matariki: Whangamatā

9—12 July 2026

We welcome you to celebrate Matariki in Whangamatā as we come together as a community to reflect, remember and connect. Whangamatā will host a weekend of activities featuring workshops at the Memorial Hall and a hāngī and concert at Williamson Park.

Whitianga Oceans Festival

Markets

Coromandel Town  — Wharf Road, Coromandel: Fridays, 8.30am — 1pm 

An array of local and homegrown produce and crafts for sale. Organic and gluten-free options. You will be spoilt for choice.

Tairua Market -—Tairua Memorial Hall: the first Saturday of every month

In addition to a good range of seasonal produce fresh from local growers, this market offers handmade preserves, baking and confectionery, and locally made small goods. The selection of handmade crafts make great gifts, from classic wooden toys, organic soaps, knitted garments and quilts, to plants, artworks and jewellery.

Thames Market — Pollen Street, Thames

Held every Saturday from 8am — 12pm in Grahamstown. You'll find locally produced plants, fruit and veg plus bric-a-brac, secondhand goods and books, arts and crafts, fine food, cheeses, specialty oils and much more.

Little Big Markets — Island View Reserve, Whangamatā

A huge range of gourmet street food and food truck vendors, as well as a curated selection of stallholders for you to peruse... you won't be short of things to do. There'll be live music and lots of activities to entertain the little ones.
