We tabled in the Piazza to remind students they can recycle their empty cans and bottles for cash! Check out nearby recycling centers where you can turn in cans in exchange for 5¢ with California Redemption Value exchange!
Contra Trivia ☕🌍We set up outside of Contra Coffee and tested people's knowledge of all things sustainability! Participants were rewarded with a discount on their coffee, and those who went three for three could select from our prizes including beeswax wrap, reusable paper towels, a travel utensil set, or a reusable straw!
Weigh the WasteOn October 23rd, we held the semester's first Weigh the Waste! We were supported by six volunteers and recorded the food waste from an entire lunch period. The total food waste came out to 134 pounds, with over 50% of the waste collected consisting of carbs. Even small changes can make a difference! Try taking smaller portions or sharing plates with friends if you want to try multiple dining hall dishes!

Free Food Alert AppIn collaboration with the Student Government Association, we have launched the Free Food Alert program! Through email or the Free Food Alert app, students are notified of free meals that would otherwise go to waste. Since launching, the program has gained 597 student subscribers and held 17+ food giveaways. Free Food Alert is open to students, staff, and faculty at both the Orange and Rinker campuses. For thousands of years, the Klamath River has been home to salmon, trout and other migratory fish that are central to the diets and cultures of the tribes that live along its banks. However, the installation of hydroelectric dams in the early 1900s led to the absence of these fish for the last century, blocking the passage of their upstream travels. Culminations of the efforts of Native American groups led to the dams being demolished in 2023 and 2024, and this month Oregon wildlife officials
