Severely Injured kitty wins the rescue lottery!

Violet was found huddled in a pile of garbage under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) by a Good Samaritan named Robert.  She was suffering with a severe injury to her mouth.  Thanks to Dr. Erica Morgan of All Creatures Veterinary Hospital who came in on her day off to examine Violet, it was determined that she had a degloving injury.  The skin had pulled away from the jaw from some type of trauma and the gap filled with debris. Dr. Morgan performed surgery on Violet to debride the wound and reattach the skin to her jaw and this little beauty is now recovering at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in Brooklyn.  Because the injury had gone untreated, it is possible she may need a second surgery -- any donations would be appreciated.

Who names a refrigerator Florence?

We do!!  After purchasing the shelter In 1975, Pat Ladew was interviewed by network television host Tom Snyder because the media couldn't believe that she bought a house just for cats.  During the interview (see video @1:35) Tom Synder asked Pat “if any of the cats are for adoption” and Pat answered "Yes, well maybe except for Florence who has lived on the icebox for 5 years."  When we hired Square Paws to redesign our shelter with sustainable and easy-to-clean furniture, they thought it would be cute to pay homage to Florence in this clever way.

Spotlight on Seniors:  Jennie

Seniors for Seniors was designed to help senior cats find homes while relieving senior adopters of the financial burden of adopting a senior cat.  Jennie is 12 years old and is looking for a new home after her owner passed away.  She is such a friendly and loving girl and would make a great companion to anyone.  Jennie’s future reasonable medical care will be covered by the Foundation at our facility in Oyster Bay.  Jennie is currently open to interviewing potential partners - call 516-922-CATS or visit her page to sponsor or adopt >>
