After reeling from the cold-blooded murder of South African rapper AKA, South Africans celebrated his memory last week. This was followed by the release of his fourth album, which his family decided to go ahead with in the spirit of remembering his creative vision. Fans will feel consoled by Mass Country, but critics may be divided. While AKA was a towering figure in the country’s popular culture, his music was inconsistent at times. The same is true of his posthumous release, which benefits from powerful collaborations, but offers too broad a range of tracks in the hopes of a few hits sticking. Sanya Osha reviews.

Niger, a landlocked country in the Sahel, is struggling to feed its population of 25 million people. And things look set to get worse.
