Dear Alumnae,

Crofton House is preparing to mark an important milestone in our history: 125 years of delivering inspiring, girl-centered education. We look forward to celebrating this significant anniversary with our community over the next 12 months.

We are also excited to share our new strategic plan with the community next month. Coinciding with the School’s 125th anniversary, the plan is a thoughtful balance of stability and progress, guiding CHS toward 2030 and beyond.

Over the course of the upcoming year, several special events and initiatives will help us honour our history and celebrate our continuing evolution. You will also see the theme of celebrating 125 years woven through our regular events and programming.

In the header of this email, you will see the 125th-anniversary commemorative logo which we will be incorporating into our communications and celebrations this year. Its design complements the current logo and incorporates several traditional CHS elements, including the shape of the original CHS ivy leaf and the Gordon tartan.

We would like to share with you some of the preliminary plans that are taking shape for this year. We will be communicating regularly with you about events and celebrations, and encourage you to join us in celebrating this exciting year of remembrance and reflection.

This year’s annual School birthday will have a new format and will offer the opportunity to alumnae to experience the School and connect with students. The success of cross-generational initiatives like the Pen Pal Program, Career Conference, and Work Experience inspired the change.

This year, alumnae will be able to enjoy lunch with our students or alternatively book a room for lunch with their classmates. Invitations to the annual school birthday will go out shortly. Please feel free to email alumnae@croftonhouse.ca if you have any questions.

While much has changed in the 125 years since Dr. Jessie Gordon welcomed the first four students into the billiard room in her parent’s home on Georgia Street in 1898, the relevance of girls’ education has never been greater as we look to building a better, kinder, fairer future for all. We are excited to celebrate this important milestone with the community and look forward to sharing more details throughout 2023.

The Alumnae Association is getting ready to celebrate the School's 125th Anniversary with a number of special initiatives and opportunities for alumnae to connect with one another, beginning with the Alumnae Career Exchange (ACE) networking’ event in Vancouver, scheduled for Wednesday, February 1. The Association is also working with the School on a special celebration at the annual birthday on Friday, March 3, so stay tuned for details. I hope to see you at one of these events!

It was a festive December with Alum Mums and daughters wrapping and donating essential hygiene and winter items for Aunt Leah’s Place, an organization that helps women and children in need.

Mrs. Moira Schulte, a former long-time staff member and mother to Tina ‘84 and Tricia ‘83 who attended CHS, connecting with two 'alum mums' at the Alumnae Seasonal Social.

Save the Date for the Four Seasons Book Club!

Alumna Trish Dundas ‘83 has been excited to start a book club with her fellow CHS alumnae. The first meeting will take place on March 28, 6:30 pm, at Crofton House School. We hope you will have enough time to read Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. More information in the months to come.
