Student Experience

Junior School students explored the wonders of the animal world with Writer-in-Residence and alum mum Rachel Poliquin ’93, and enjoyed Cozy Week. While in the Senior School, students participated in memorable Ivy Days and Service Together events. The Whole School also gathered for a moving Remembrance Day ceremony led by students. The weeks surrounding Mid-Term Break have been filled with connection, reflection, and community spirit. Check out the highlights gallery here.
Coding and Collaboration: The Grade 6 Makey Makey Arcade

Earlier this week, the Junior School’s Sherman Jen Learning Commons transformed as Grade 6 students unveiled their very own “Makey Makey Arcade”! From dance mats and action mazes to the timeless favourite Whack-a-Mole, each student-led creation incorporated inputs, code and displays crafted by the students themselves. Read more.
Learning, Creating and Reflecting: Ivy 12 Day Focused on Making an Impact in the Downtown Eastside

Each year, the Ivy Compass Program invites Grade 12 students to closely examine the history, challenges, and enduring strength of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community. Through team research and reflection, students develop meaningful service projects to support one of Crofton House School’s community partners, the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC).;
This year’s Ivy 12 Day on Tuesday, November 4, was co-created and led by Yasmin, a Grade 12 student whose non-profit, Changemakers, partners directly with the DEWC. Her connection to the work not only enriched Ivy Day but also inspired her peers to consider how action can spark lasting change. Read more.

Meanwhile, various Senior School fall sports are wrapping up their seasons, with a fourth place finish at the AAA Provincial Championships for varsity field hockey, and the varsity volleyball team earning their place in provincials with strong play in the Sea to Sky Championships.
