In November, Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones visited Manawatū-Whanganui to make a number of announcements totalling $48 million in funding for projects in our region. These announcements included funding towards a Regional Freight Hub to be based in Palmerston North, the expansion of the Rural Broadband Initiative Phase Two (RB12), a business case for an Advanced Aviation Hub at Whanganui Airport and the expansion of the National Driver Training Centre in Feilding. Some of these projects, along with others, have been profiled in this month's edition of Growing our Region, with more to come in the New Year. The level of funding received across the region is a testament to the collaborative work that is being carried out across agencies and organisations to ensure, we as a region, achieve prosperity. All of the recipients, along with those who have worked with them, can be very proud of their achievements. That said, the work doesn't stop here, we look forward to working with each of the successful organisations to ensure their progression. In the mean time, enjoy the holiday season and make the most of the beautiful assets our region has to offer. I look forward to touching base with you again in 2019.
