Dominique Pablito: Advancing science while inspiring fellow Indigenous students in STEM
As she investigates cancer treatments and pursues her own path toward becoming a physician-scientist, the Brown University doctoral student is supporting fellow Indigenous students interested in science and medicine.
PRIORITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Brown Research Achievement Award nominations—due Jan. 13, 2025
Brown recognizes outstanding research and scholarship through annual Research Achievement Awards. Early Career Awards and Distinguished Achievement Awards will be given in 2025. Nominations are now open on InfoReady.
Huron Research Suite now live
Huron Research Suite, which replaces Coeus, went live on Dec. 9. Log in to Huron with your Brown credentials, or access Huron-related training and resources.
Research Matters 2025
Nominate a graduate student by Dec. 20, 2024. Ten graduate students will be chosen to present short talks on why their research matters on April 17, 2025 (4-6 p.m.) in Grant Recital Hall.
Pilot Funding in Climate and Health
Brown faculty are invited to apply for pilot funds through the Climate, Health, and Aging Innovation and Research Solutions for Communities (CHAIRS-C) program. Funding is anticipated for two to four projects with budgets of $25-50K in 2025. The deadline is Jan. 31, 2025. Email Jennifer_Tidey@brown.edu for more information.

Taking place Feb. 13 and 14, this two-day online workshop includes four sessions among which to select, appropriate for all faculty career stages and target funding agencies (NSF, NIH, DoE, NEH, etc). Presented by the AtKisson Training Group. Rolling admission lasts until Jan. 31. More information.

Please join us in welcoming our newest team member, Mark Ezeltmueller, to the Research Strategy and Development Team in DoR. Joining us from the Harvard Move Lab, Mark will work with faculty in Engineering and Physical Sciences on federal proposal development efforts.

Welcome New ARC team member, Melissa Trudeau
Animal Research Compliance (ARC) is pleased to welcome our new IACUC Specialist, Melissa Trudeau. Melissa will be working closely with Liz Murner (IACUC Manager) to support the day-to-day management of Brown's animal care and use program. Melissa joins us from Environmental Health and Safety where she worked as the Senior Environmental Health and Safety Training Coordinator and has been at Brown since 2016. We are excited to have Melissa join our team.
Research Security Training now available
As part of Brown’s Research Security Program implementation, our virtual, self-paced eLearning module, Research Security Matters, is now available in Workday learning. It is designed for the Brown research community to enhance research security knowledge and to comply with upcoming federal funding agency requirements.
REMINDER: BEARCORE registration open for January 2024
The BEARCORE Responsible Conduct of Research training course is open for registration. Participants will be required to meet in person Jan. 15 and 16. This course fulfills NIH and NSF RCR training requirements.

Brown Innovation Fellows: Providing real-world experience in technology evaluation and commercialization
Brown Innovation Fellows is a program that trains graduate students, postdocs, and medical students in technology evaluation, market research, patenting, and commercialization. Learn more about this successful program.
Register for RI Neuroscience Symposium
The Rhode Island Neuroscience Symposium will take place Jan. 28, 2025. Talks, pitches, and networking opportunities will focus on driving neuro-related innovation and fostering connections between scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders. Registration is free.

NSF Research.gov Multi-Factor Authentication requirement
OIT has successfully added Brown University to the dropdown list under “Organization Credentials.” Simply select Brown and enter your University login. You will be automatically redirected to the Research.gov main page.

Log in to Huron, visit Huron Training in the Huron Knowledge Center for Huron training and resources, access Huron Training Live Chat, available to answer your questions 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or schedule a Build Your Own Proposal one-on-one help session, also available Monday through Friday.
RESEARCH AGREEMENTS AND CONTRACTING
Submit MTA and DUA review requests in Huron
Research Agreements and Contracting (RAC) is now accepting new MTA and DUA review requests via Huron Research Suite. Researchers are encouraged to access and submit review requests via Huron during December. Beginning Jan. 6, 2025, researchers will be required to submit all review requests via Huron, and RAC will no longer accept review requests by email.

Childcare costs for Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition programs F99 recipients
Beginning in FY25, NIH will begin providing childcare cost support to individuals supported as full-time recipients of Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00) programs during the F99 phase of the award.
