Don’t forget the Quarry Transformation Grants are closing soon

Applications for the Quarry Transformation Grants (also known as the Innovative Quarry End Land Use Grants Project) are open until 14 April 2022. The grants will help working quarries plan for a positive legacy that gives the local community maximum benefit by providing opportunities to develop and test ideas for repurposing the land after quarrying stops.

We are looking for quarry site rehabilitation ideas that go beyond the safe and stable and sustainable minimum legislative requirements.

Projects and initiatives eligible for funding include:

  • those that provide ongoing local community access and critical local services,
  • generate employment opportunities,
  • improve the liveability of an area and/or have a direct and tangible impact on surrounding land and property values.

Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity.

Metro Basalt Survey drill core photos now available

The Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) has completed a drill core photography campaign in support of Helping Victoria Grow: Extractive Resources Strategy (2018) priority Action 1 “updating mapping to refine areas for future potential extractive industries”.

Down-hole drill core images can be used to remotely assess the quality of rock. Images are now available for the GSV Metro Basalt Survey drill cores, across Northern and Western Melbourne. These images can be viewed and downloaded via Geovic.

The Metro Basalt Survey physical drill cores can be viewed and sampled at GSV’s Drill Core Library in Werribee. To visit the Drill Core Library please contact gsv.drillcorelibrary@ecodev.vic.gov.au
