Welcome back Seamus

This academic year we are very excited to be welcoming back alumnus Seamus Ryan (Geography and Professional Studies, 1975) to take on the challenge of completing a degree all over again.

Seamus, who lives locally, has continued to use the library and sports facilities on campus since leaving and is returning as a student on the MSc Health and Wellbeing degree. Read more.

Special recognition for Ian

Leeds Trinity recently awarded nine new Honorary Fellowships, six of whom are alumni.

Unfortunately Ian Dawson (Director, Schools History Project 1982-1990), who was awarded an Honorary Fellowship in 2017, couldn't join us on the night but we did get to find out about his most recent accolade of receiving a lifetime achievement award for history teachers by the Historical Association. Read more.

Returning after 40 years

Earlier this month we welcomed back alumni from the Class of 1983. They had a campus tour as well as the chance to find out about life as a student today from one of our ambassadors.

L-R: Mary Hodges (Executive Head for the Blessed Peter Snow Trust, Diocese of Leeds), Deb Fox (Director of Hexham and Newcastle Diocese) and Annie McLaughlin (Primary Headteacher in Armagh).

Governor opportunities

Since the pandemic Catholic schools and universities have experienced a number of vacancies available for Foundation Governors.

Foundation Governors ensure the Catholic ethos of a school is upheld, holding the head teacher and leadership team to account and overseeing financial performance. Find out more about opportunities available.

Featured alumni – Khalid Khan

Khalid Khan graduated from MSc Health and Wellbeing in 2022, having been able to take advantage of distance learning.

Gaining a Masters was a huge boost and offered new learning opportunities for Khalid: "I have worked in the field for most of my career and it was great to formalise and expand on my working knowledge. The challenge of organising oneself as a distance student and meeting deadlines and course requirements was trying but most rewarding."

Khalid has benefitted from new opportunities since gaining an MSc: "I continue to work as a nutritional therapist, however the Masters has led to my full time role as a Health and Social Care Lecturer. I have worked in education for most of my career and my current role enables me to do what I enjoy most and work with young people to help develop their knowledge and skills in the field."
