Welcome to our June newsletter

The EURAXESS June newsletter includes the results from this year's FameLab competition, a request for impact stories, and a round up of the latest calls and opportunities.

Inspire school pupils in Germany

The British Council in Germany is looking for UK-based researchers to inspire school pupils by delivering interactive, engaging and hands-on science workshops in English on the topic of Seas and Oceans.

Application deadline extended to 30 September 2017.

FameLab International Final 2017

Tshiamo Legoale, a Geologist from South Africa, was crowned the 2017 FameLab International Champion and Audience Vote Winner at the Cheltenham Science Festival on 8 June. She successfully competed against 31 science communicators from across the world.

Tshiamo’s talk was informative and inspiring, winning the judges over on content, clarity and charism. In her winning presentation on phytomining, she described how plants can absorb specific metals from the environment into their tissues and how this process can be used to literally ‘harvest’ gold from wheat.

Research Environment Links Grants (Vietnam/UK)

REL grants aim to support international collaboration through training programmes, the exchange of knowledge and best practice. The partnerships are led by institutions in Vietnam in conjunction with an expert counterpart organisation in the UK.

Application deadline 21 July 2017
