Good News Story -Virginia writes - Last month Amy (Peer Support L’ton office) and I (Registered Nurse L’ton Office) travelled to the North West Coast on an outreach visit. We started the day in Burnie with a Mental Health round table talking about services and programmes on the NW/W Coast. We both gained interesting and valuable contacts from this meeting. Later that day we ran an Education session at a school and it was encouraging to spend time afterwards with teachers to hear their experiences teaching students with Epilepsy. It was great to hear positive feedback from them that they understood more fully what epilepsy is and its impact on education, family and social activities and how they as educators can make their school Epilepsy friendly for all. Amy was also able to have contact with a family living with epilepsy and provide support and information to them. The next day we travelled to Devonport to gratefully receive a donation from the Devonport North Rotary Club and hear how members were directly impacted with Epilepsy and its impact on family life. We then met a Complex Care Coordinator Registered Nurse who supports people in the N & N/W regions assisting people with complex medical issues. It was great to chat about Epilepsy Tasmania with her and further develop that relationship of referral. In summary a very worthwhile experience getting out into the community to create and enhance relationships and spread the word of EpTas. Tell us your good news. We would love to hear from you.
