Dear Friends of The LOOP Zurich
It is a great pleasure to send you the second The LOOP Zurich newsletter. In this edition we focus on the Translational Project INTeRCePT and its ambition to improve the treatment of patients suffering from blood cancers.
INTeRCePT is one of the first two Translational projects that have approached half time. Both the INTeRCePT and StimuLOOP teams were invited to present their state of affairs to the Scientific Advisory Board at the mid-term review. We are highly pleased to see that both projects are progressing according to plan and that the milestones for the first phase have been largely met. Considering the constructive feedback by our Scientific Advisory Board will help INTeRCePT and StimuLOOP to reach their objective.
Thorsten Zenz will give us an update into the progress of INTeRCePT and provide a peek into the future.
Young researchers are the lifeblood of research projects, which once again became apparent during the mid-term review. We have asked one of them to explain us her role in INTeRCePT and how she could benefit from collaborating in such a multidisciplinary consortium.
As a last item, I would like to draw your interest towards our Annual Report 2023, which summarizes our achievements in the past year(s) and ends with an outlook on our challenges for 2024 and beyond.

Prof. Dr. Markus Schwaiger, Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board, about The LOOP Zurich
The SAB of LOOP Zurich program is very excited about the scientific progress and research enthusiasm, which drive the LOOP projects at a highly competitive level.
The program stimulates interdisciplinary cooperations among Zurich´s outstanding research institutions exploiting the excellence in theoretical and applied sciences.
This unique program is likely to gain international reputation for introducing important innovations in the field of precision medicine.
Prof. Schwaiger is an oncologist (nuclear medicine) and Founding Director of the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM), Technical University Munich, Germany.
He is the president of Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities
Half-Time for the Research Consortia INTeRCePT and StimuLOOP
The LOOP Zurich carried out its first Midterm Review. This marked a significant milestone for the INTeRCePT and StimuLOOP projects, both of which started by the end of 2021. So, on the 23rd and 24th of May 2024 it was time to reflect on the progress made, address challenges, and plan next steps.
Annual report
The LOOP Zurich was founded in 2018 and in 2020 – amidst the Corona pandemic – the groundwork began. Since then, The LOOP Zurich has gradually evolved. At this point, we would like to report on our achievements and place particular emphasis on our activities in 2023.

The LOOP Zurich Incubator Projects
On March 4th, 2024, The LOOP Zurich launched a call for Incubator Projects, expanding the support portfolio of The LOOP Zurich with additional components.
