Since we last updated you, several key pieces of work have been completed at Lyttelton's Te Nukutai o Tapoa - Naval Point.Visitors to the area will notice the new waterfront artwork. The 250m long pedestrian walkway has been painted with a blue and yellow artwork developed by Te Hapū o Ngāti Wheke Rāpaki. Seats, planters and fishing pole holders have also been installed in the area. Stage 2 carpark work complete The works have also had a positive impact on water filtration and the water quality in Whakaraupō Harbour. New pontoons in the New Year The pontoons will remain in place after the event for the boating public, and will provide additional infrastructure to support the busy boat ramp. SailGP at Naval Point The event organisers have advised that the public boat ramp at Naval Point, and the boat ramp near Stark's Engineering will be closed 15 March - 22 March 2023 to accommodate the race village set up. Public parking at Naval Point will also be impacted from 6 – 29 March 2023. No freedom camping will be allowed at Naval Point freedom camping area during this time.
