Te Kaha Surrounding StreetsOver the break Our contractors are pulling out all the stops to hit some key milestones ahead of the holiday period. Work will pause from Friday 20 December, with most traffic management (road cones, signs and barriers) removed from the site. Only a few traffic management measures will remain including the current one-lane layout on Tuam Street (between Madras Street and Barbadoes Street). Traffic lights will also be removed at the:
Crews will return from Monday 6 January, with the bulk of works set to wrap up around mid-2025 and minor works continuing into the spring. Lichfield Street (between Manchester Street and Madras Street) - The final layer of paving on the south side of the road started in mid-November and will finish up ahead of the holidays. All the water works, new streetlights and footpaths have also been completed in this area. From Monday 13 January, works will start on the north side of the road. Madras Street (between Hereford Street and Tuam Street) - Works on Madras Street will switch from the east lane (closest to the stadium) to the west lane in the new year, with the final layer of road surfacing across both lanes being completed around mid-2025. The kerb and channel closest to the stadium is finished, and the new rain gardens can be seen in the far right of the image above. Works will resume here on Monday 13 January. Madras Street (between Tuam Street and Moorhouse Ave) - The new footpath, kerb and channel works have finished up on the east side of the road. In 2025, pedestrian and cycling upgrades will be made outside the Ara campus. Works will start here from Monday 13 January. Barbadoes Street (between Hereford Street and Tuam Street) - Works will switch from the east lane on Barbadoes Street to the west lane (closest to the stadium) from Monday 6 January, with the final layer of road surfacing being laid across both lanes around the middle of next year. Lichfield Street (between Barbadoes Street and the Fitzgerald Ave intersection) - The picture above is taken at the Lichfield Street and Barbadoes Street intersection. The new kerb and footpaths are finished. Works will continue along this stretch of Lichfield Street to create a two-way system. This new layout will require new traffic signals, a new pedestrian crossing, and road markings in the Fitzgerald Ave intersection. Works in this area will start on Monday 6 January. Tuam Street (between Madras Street and Barbadoes Street) - Work will continue on the north lane of Tuam Street next to the stadium into early 2025, before switching to the north side. Tuam Street (between Barbadoes Street and the Fitzgerald Ave intersection) - This section of road will be converted to a one-way system. Once complete, two lanes of traffic will flow from Fitzgerald Ave east towards the CBD. Works will take place in the Fitzgerald Ave intersections from Monday 6 January - Monday 13 January. Works will restart along Tuam Street on Monday 13 January. Ash Street (from Madras Street to Poplar Lane - Work to upgrade the wastewater pipes along Ash Street will take place from Monday 13 Jan - Friday 8 March.
