From the MayorI'm excited to announce the draft masterplan for Gordon's newest park is now open for community feedback. The former Gordon Bowling Club site at 4 Pennant Avenue is being converted into a new public park and recreation area, and we'd love to hear what you think of the plans.
After three phases of community engagement last year, the draft masterplan shows how the site will be developed over time. Our Recreational Needs Study found that the southern part of Ku-ring-gai has fewer parks and recreation spaces than other areas, as well as a growing population, so this new park will help plug the gap in our open space needs. You can review the draft masterplan and have your say by completing two surveys or sending in a written submission. Feedback is open until 8 November. You can also attend a site visit on Saturday 17 October from 10am to 2pm to view the plans, have a chat and
enjoy a coffee on us. Are you a street artist with a passion for the environment? Then I invite you to apply for two new mural commissions celebrating community and care of the environment. The urban murals will be painted at the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden education centre in St Ives and at the St Ives Showground café, and both will explore this year's theme of 'Connecting Community'. Over the years, we have commissioned some fabulous urban murals to celebrate and encourage environmental stewardship. I can’t wait to see the next two. Finally, just a reminder that the Twilight Concert in the
Park is on again from 5pm on Saturday 17 October. Get ready for a new sensation as Don't Change – Ultimate INXS rocks Wahroonga Park. Grab a picnic rug and your best mates and enjoy this fun, free event. You can find out more on our website. Have a great weekend. Mayor Kim Wheatley
