We hope you had a restful festive break and are ready to jump into the various events and activities on offer to support your connection and wellbeing this year. Campus Activation: Bringing Our Community to Life Applications are now open for funding for colleges and portfolios to host a campus activation event for Flinders staff. This initiative is designed to create a vibrant and dynamic campus atmosphere, support connection, wellbeing and inclusion, and help our people to thrive at Flinders. Click here to navigate to the campus activation guidelines and to submit an application for funding. Applications close Thursday 20 February. In addition, part of the campus activation initiative involves centrally organised events, which this year includes International Women’s Day (see below for more details), R U Ok? Day on Thursday 11 September, and the staff end of year event on Friday 21 November. Keep an eye out for more information in the coming months. ![]() Upcoming Events Perimenopause and Menopause seminar - 13 February The CMPH Gender, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (GIDE) Committee invites you to attend an online seminar presented by Professor Jayashri Kulkarni AM entitled "Women's Mental Health - Hormones & Trauma". Prof Kulkarni established the HER Centre Australia and the Multidisciplinary Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc). She is also Head of the Department of Psychiatry, School of Translational Medicine (STM), Monash University - Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences. The seminar runs from 10:30 - 11:30am, and you can join on Teams here. Wellbeing shortcuts for the fast lane webinar – 19 February Hosted by Carli Phillips, CEO of Corporate Wellbeing Hub, this one-hour webinar will provide tips on managing your wellbeing when you are time-poor, including micro breaks, power downs, super food shortcuts and exercise workarounds. Women in Finance Session - 4 March Did you know that on average, women earn 16%* less than their male counterparts, are more likely to take time out of the workforce to care for family, and often retire with only half as much superannuation than men? ![]() UniSuper are running a tailored session for Flinders staff, open to women of all ages who’d like to develop a better understanding of their financial matters and be more active in managing their retirement savings. Our event will be held on Thursday 6 March 2025 and live-streamed for anyone unable to make it in person. The 2025 United Nations Women theme, “March Forward,” encourages us to reflect on progress, celebrate achievements, and continue being catalysts for positive change. To mark the occasion, we invite you to join us for a relaxing lake walk (marching forward) ahead of the formal ceremony—a perfect way to connect with others and embrace the spirit of the day. Coming Soon – Staff Wellbeing Website People and Culture are in the process of building a new wellbeing website that will showcase all of the wellbeing offerings for staff.
