Surplus High-Value Equipment Wanted/Needed

Doing a summer clean out? Have perfectly working equipment that you no longer need? List it on the Division’s webpage for Surplus High-Value Equipment for your colleagues across the Institute to happily retrieve from you. To post equipment: please send a description, specs, and photo to commofc@caltech.edu. Please also include the date you will e-waste if there are no takers. It is assumed that the equipment is working and generally available at no-cost to others at the Institute, aside from transport to be mutually arranged.

Spotlight On Our People

Israel Kellersztein

Israel Kellersztein

Postdoctoral Scholar, Mechanical and Civil Engineering

My research interests revolve around understanding how composite materials achieve optimal mechanical properties through multiscale reinforcement, hierarchical structural organization, and interface tuning—features commonly seen in natural systems. During my PhD, I studied the connection between the hierarchical structure and multiscale mechanical properties of the scorpion pincers' exoskeleton, aiming to understand why scorpions have different claw shapes and sizes. As a postdoctoral scholar, under the supervision of Professor Chiara Daraio, I focus on designing microalgae-based biocomposite materials using 3D printing for structural applications. Currently, I am studying the structure-property relationship of these biocomposite materials, aiming to balance thermal insulation with structural capabilities. Outside my research, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to heavy metal music and sports.

Grants Manager, Engineering and Applied Science

My name is Annie, and I joined the Caltech family as a Grant Manager in December 2020. Throughout my time at Caltech, I've explored and come up with different ways to automate projection. This will better support faculty in pre- and post-award. I grew up in Highland Park and received my BA from UC Riverside. I enjoy traveling and spending precious time with family and friends in my free time. My model of traveling is to travel abroad when you are young and travel in the US after I retire.

We'd like to feature you!
