We’ll be honest. We doubted Arouet Foundation’s ability to be a LISC Financial Opportunity Center. Did this small nonprofit have the capacity to handle the financial literacy and credit counseling model of empowering people in marginalized and low-income communities?

Yes, it does, and then some.

2021 Exemplary Community Response

COVID-19-response Funds to Feed Grant inspired innovation, launched new era of grant-making

Appalling pre-pandemic inequity in marginalized communities created huge disadvantages for surviving the COVID-19 public health and economic crisis. The disaster response to it had to be massive and targeted, and it had to be different.

The 2020 Funds to Feed (FTF) Grant, created by the city of Phoenix with federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act dollars, was a difference maker.
