James Cook Research Fellowships

 

About the Scheme

The James Cook Research Fellowships are awarded to researchers who have achieved national and international recognition in their area of scientific research. The fellowships allow them to concentrate on their chosen research for two years without the additional burden of administrative and teaching duties.

 

Key Things to Note

Funding Type: Senior Researcher Fellowship
Grant Value: Up to $110,000 (plus GST) per year up to two years. The award consists of:
− $100,000 (plus GST) contribution toward researcher’s salary; and
− $10,000 (plus GST) contribution towards relevant expenses.

Eligible fields of research:
In the 2022 round, the Society is offering Fellowships for:
− Biological sciences
− Engineering sciences and technologies
− Physical sciences

Internal Deadline: 5pm, Tuesday 03 May 2022

Submission Process

  1. Email the following information to the Funds Advisor Team via submissions@auckland.ac.nz for James Cook Fellowship portal access: title (e.g. Dr, A/P, Professor), full name, email address, faculty, and department or click the above button.
  2. Complete the application on the James Cook Fellowship Portal and submit it to the Funds Advisor Team by 5pm, Tuesday 03 May 2022.
  3. Create a record in the Research Funding Module (RFM) uploading all application documents and submit for faculty sign off by 5pm, Tuesday 03 May 2022.
  4. Following on from the QA, the Funds Advisor Team will submit the application on your behalf to the Funder before the deadline.

Please note: Applications are required to be received on or before the above-mentioned deadline to allow sufficient time for the Quality Assurance (QA) process and any associated rework/revision of the application by the Principal Investigator.
