The Community Panel considered that showing an overloaded power board such as the one in the ad would be considered by most members of the community to be normalising if not promoting unsafe behaviour that could lead to a fire. Upheld - AANA Code of Ethics (Health and Safety) Careful with your claimsA TV ad that claimed electricity generated by gas is “50% cleaner” has breached Section 1 (Truthful and Factual), Section 2 (Genuine Environmental Benefit) and Section 3 (Substantiation) of the AANA Environmental Claims Code for being misleading. The Community Panel found the ad to be misleading to the average consumer and that the claim had not been substantiated. The Community Panel noted that there is a high degree of sensitivity in the community about mental health and suicide in Australia. Although the ad was calling attention to important issues, they considered that it did not feature references to any mental health support services.
