Call for Applications: Community Engaged Scholars Immersion Program The MCW Office of Community Engagement invites researchers, clinicians and learners to explore community engagement in an immersive format through the 2023 Community Engaged Scholars Immersion Program. This 3.5-day program focuses on the foundational elements necessary for creating successful, sustainable and authentic community-academic partnerships and is designed for those looking to deepen and expand their existing community engagement practice. During this
experience, participants will learn the principles and processes of community engagement and community engaged research (CEnR), learn from community partners' experiences with community-academic partnerships, engage in discussion with researchers who’ve developed and maintained partnerships, and explore approaches to relationship development. The program runs July 25-July 28. Applications are due by Friday, March 31 at 11:59 p.m.
Clinical Research Tip of the Month
Real-Time IRB Review How Does the Real-Time IRB Work? The goal of Real-Time IRB review is to schedule new IRB submissions for review at an IRB committee meeting within 14-20 days from the day that they are received by the IRB All departmental and ancillary review(s) must be complete. All MCW IRB Committees are able to support this endeavor.
The PI and study coordinator must attend the IRB Committee meeting at which the research is scheduled for review. The Committee will conduct their review. If the study cannot be approved and the Committee has questions or requested modifications, they will communicate these changes to the PI and study coordinator and the study team may make changes in eBridge while the IRB is meeting and then re-present the study for a second review. The HRPP Office will provide access to a computer on the MCW network near the meeting location. Submit the online form to
nominate a study for Real-Time IRB review.
