Stephanie, who is Head of Economics and Government at Bloomberg – overseeing the research and journalism of 250 economists and reporters worldwide – assumes the unpaid role from outgoing IED Patron, the Baroness Blake of Leeds CBE, who was in post for two years. Join us at the House of LordsAll iED members should by now have received an invite to our House of Lords event we are holding on the 19th March 3,30-5pm. This event is going to be hosted by Tom Stannard, Chair of the iED and Chief Executive of Manchester City Council. Our newly announced Patron, Stephanie Flanders, Head of Economics and Government at Bloomberg is due to be in attendance and we will announce an additional speaker in due course. Join them, representatives from the iED Board and other invited colleagues from the economic development profession over afternoon tea, as we hold an informal discussion, reflecting on economic development and the move to a modern industrial strategy under the new government. Date and venue confirmed for iED Annual Conference and Awards Dinner 2025We are delighted to say that our annual conference and awards dinner is heading to the North West this year, taking place at the Lowry Hotel, Salford on the 25th November. Member voice - Would you like to write for the iED?As part of IED individual and organisation membership, ALL members have the opportunity to publish articles on our website and through Bulletin. We are now seeking ideas for contributions from members, including those in our Early Career Network. These can be around any aspect of economic development, insights on work you are undertaking and project successes you would like to share, or any viewpoint you would like to share (this could also be around our Grow Local, Grow National manifesto). If you have an article proposal, please contact philsmith@ied.co.uk. iED Charity donation chosenIn our final bulletin of 2024 we asked members to vote for which charity should receive a donation from the iED (from income not related to members subscriptions).
