NCTRC ScholarshipNCTRC Scholarship Committee Awards 12 Scholarships in February and 7 Scholarships in March 2023!The NCTRC Scholarship Committee met in February and selected twelve applications to receive a scholarship award. In March, the NCTRC Scholarship Committee met and selected seven applications to receive a scholarship award. NCTRC is proud to offer this program which recognizes the achievements of those who
seek to advance their knowledge and professional competency to improve the quality of recreational therapy services.
Individuals may apply for an NCTRC Scholarship for full or partial reimbursement of funds associated with successful completion (earned grade of B or better) of academic credit generating course(s) completed within the past 12 months. Academic courses must lead to application for Professional Eligibility, recertification of their CTRS credential, Specialization Area Designation, progress toward advancement of a degree in TR/RT, or enhanced recreational therapy knowledge to provide improved
quality of care.
New NCTRC Scholarship Application Video TutorialThe NCTRC Scholarship Committee has created a new video tutorial to assist with the Scholarship application process. This short, 5-minute video provides helpful tips on how to fill out the Scholarship Application correctly, which is the critical first step toward earning a scholarship award. NCTRC knows how hard you worked to obtain the CTRS credential. Continue your professional journey by renewing your CTRS certification. Every five years, a CTRS is required to recertify in order to demonstrate continuing professional knowledge and competence. In order to meet the requirements for recertification, a CTRS must choose one of the following two options: 1) Work Experience and Continuing Education: - 480 hours of professional work experience in the field of therapeutic recreation, and
- 50 hours of continuing education related to the NCTRC Job Analysis Professional Knowledge and Job Tasks.
or 2) Pass the NCTRC Certification Exam: - Submit the Exam Registration Form
(Contact the NCTRC office to discuss which exam cycle corresponds with your recertification date.) Recertify and continue to possess the most well-recognized credential within the therapeutic recreation profession. Login to your MY NCTRC LOGIN account for applications and payment options.
NCTRC Research Grant ProgramThe NCTRC Research Committee is pleased to announce that six proposals were received for the March 15, 2023, submission deadline. NCTRC Research Grant Applications will be reviewed by the NCTRC Research Committee and applicants will be notified of the decision via email, with funding to be awarded in May 2023 to the selected applicant(s). We are proud to offer this program which seeks to open new doors for current RT practitioners as well as those pursuing careers in the field. The next Research Grant Application submission deadline is October 15 at 11:59 PM ET,
