The countdown is on. SLIP+ for Louisiana goes live July 1, 2026, and we’re excited to welcome you into the future of surplus lines reporting. 

To help you get started, SLIP+ is hosting a comprehensive onboarding webinar on June 30 at 2PM CDT (3PM EDT). Our program will introduce SLIP+ features and workflows and offer practical guidance to enhance and streamline compliance.

Changes in SLIP+

Agent Reporting: Each licensed surplus lines agent conducting business in Louisiana must register for a SLIP+ account. SLIP+ for States filings must be submitted under the surplus lines agent of record using their license number.

Agency Accounts: Agencies reporting for two or more agents can create a SLIP+ Agency Account to centralize and manage filings and payments under one login. To create an Agency Account, at least two individual agent accounts must already be registered in SLIP+.  

Louisiana Data Elements: The Louisiana Department of Insurance will begin collecting policy level data. A complete list of the  Louisiana SLIP+ data elements are available on the Resources page on slipplus.com.   

Updated Tax Invoicing: Louisiana R.S. Title 22, §439 requires surplus lines taxes to be split as follows:  

• 96% allocated to the state general fund

• 4% allocated to the Louisiana Fire Marshal Fund 

Together, these invoices total the 4.85% Louisiana premium tax.
