Dear Crofton House Alumnae,
This November, alumnae returned to campus for jam-making, open houses and a special Remembrance Day assembly. The whole CHS community was invited to a pertinent conversation with author Tara Mohr at a Whole Girl, Whole World speaker series session, and we also saw our Crofton Falcons secure the gold medal at the provincial championships for Field Hockey. Thank you to all the alumnae who attended and supported these events.

Please take your time to read and enjoy this 1898 edition, which has several important updates. |
Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is December 3 - a global day of generosity that invites all to ask: “How can I contribute meaningfully to the world around me?”
As a Crofton House alumna, you might consider making a gift to one of our key priorities.

Every gift, no matter the amount, makes a significant difference. Thank you for considering this opportunity to give back. If you have any questions, please contact Greta Lin, Manager, Annual Giving. |
Updates and Changes
CHS Career Conference
This year’s Career Conference will take place on Monday, March 10, 2025. We look forward to having alumnae back on campus to share their professional journeys with students. More information will be included in the next edition of 1898.
Alumnae Seasonal Social
Since the Carol Service was moved to Chan Centre, the Alumnae Seasonal Social has been hosted at the Cecil Green Park House in UBC. This year, Cecil Green is unavailable, and there is no alternative venue within walking distance of the Chan Centre. As a result, the Seasonal Social will not take place this year, but we hope to see you at the Carol Service.
Crofton Connect
As was communicated in an email to alumnae, in January 2025, we are expanding Crofton Connect to include not only alumnae but also current parents, Grade 11 and Grade 12 students, teachers, and staff. If you have any questions please contact Sadhbh Smyth, Coordinator, Alumnae Relations or Mariangela Brutti, Director, Advancement. |

ECE Students Play Pretend Doctors with Visiting Alumnae

This week, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes enjoyed two visits from the Reading Bear Society (RBS), a Vancouver-based not-for-profit promoting early literacy and healthy living through intergenerational mentorship. The RBS team read a story and introduced common doctor's office tools to help familiarize students with medical visits. The society was co-founded by CHS alumna Dr Isabel Chen ’06, with UBC medical students Sarah Wong ’20 and Rachel Phord-Toy ’20 leading the sessions.

Congratulations to alumna Sienna Gibson ’24, who just won gold at the U SPORTS Soccer Championship with the UBC Thunderbirds! As a rookie, Sienna was named to the tournament all-star team and named tournament MVP! Read more about the tournament.
Condolences

With sadness, we announce the passing of alumna Karen (Sawchuck) Rivard ’71. Karen lived an adventurous life and will be remembered by her friends and family. You can read more about Karen.
