Access, Achievement, Accord 2024: 
The Australian Student Equity Symposium

Dear colleagues

Today we would like to extend an invitation to you to join a LIVESTREAM of the inaugural ‘Access, Achievement, Accord 2024: The Australian Student Equity Symposium’, which will be held in Sydney on 21-22 May 2024.

After an overwhelming response to this event since it was announced, we are delighted that with this online delivery option we will be able to bring the event to a much wider audience.

Access, Achievement, Accord 2024 will bring together university leaders, experts, policymakers, youth representatives, and practitioners from the field of higher education to discuss crucial matters concerning student equity against a backdrop of the Australian Universities Accord final report and recommendations.

The program will include keynote addresses by:

  • The Hon. Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education
  • Professor Mary O’Kane, Ministerial Accord Panel Chair
  • The Hon. Fiona Nash, Regional Education Commissioner
  • Dr Omar Khan, Chief Executive at Transforming Access and Student Outcomes in Higher Education (TASO, UK)
  • Senator the Hon. Sarah Henderson, Shadow Minister for Education
  • Professor Barney Glover AO, Jobs and Skills Commissioner

Deadline Extended: ACSES Visiting Scholarship

The deadline for the ACSES Visiting Scholarships 2024-25 Program has been extended to 4pm (AWST) on Friday, 7 June 2024.

ACSES Visiting Scholarships are aimed at producing and supporting collaborative research projects between ACSES and higher education equity researchers, and contributing to the strategic goals of ACSES’s Research and Policy Program.

Proposals invited for ACSES’s Equity Frontiers Small-Scale Trials Grants Program

ACSES is now inviting proposals to be submitted for the Equity Frontiers Small-Scale Trials Grants Program.

This program will fund proposals for controlled trials to test student equity interventions that address contemporary developments and challenges in higher education equity policy, practice, and evaluation.

ACSES invites proposals from suitably qualified and experienced equity professionals in interventions relating to all student equity issues in the Australian higher education context. 

The applications round opened on 1 May 2024 and closes on Thursday, 6 June 2024 at 11.59pm (AWST). Notifications of outcomes will be in early August 2024. Proposals will be assessed by the ACSES Equity Frontiers Grants Committee (EFGC).

The Equity Frontiers Small-Scale Trials Grants Program Guidelines, Proposal Template, and Budget Template are available now on the ACSES website.
