Just over Two weeks ago, we held the 2021 IORK New Zealand Rental Kart Championships, and after many curve balls including a postponement due to Covid, many driver cancellations, and a last-minute Covid scare in Christchurch. We managed to hold our second IORK event.
Unfortunately, because we had to reschedule the event from the original August dates it had an impact on our entries with many not being able to make the October dates, but it didn’t stop us from having a fantastic event, putting a smile on everyone’s face with some very close racing, and wow what a fantastic turnout it was!
There were so many close battles and it was very intense to watch with everyone giving their best.
Like 2020’s IORK event, it was also a great social event getting like-minded people together that are supportive of each other’s racing with everyone showing great sportsmanship.
Everyone did a fantastic job and drove like champions which made it great to watch. The enthusiasm and racing banter was a good laugh, and everyone looked to be loving their experience.
A big acknowledgement to all the young drivers that came along and showed they can race hard against the older participants, they all did a great job!!

From driving into the night with the track lit up to the wet weather racing, there was a bit of everything making it a challenge to compete in all the weather conditions and find out who our IORK 2021 champions were.
There were 3 main categories, under 74.9 kgs, 75 - 89.9kgs and the 90 kgs class. And the top overall lady. See the final results below.

A special thanks to all the drivers who participated from around NZ (that could make it) and everyone who travelled to make this years IORK Championship such a success!
Also, thank you to all our team at Pro Karts for ensuring everyone was looked after and had a good time, and a big thank you to Dan & Tom for running this event so smoothly and professionally.
Without our team and all of our competitors participating throughout the weekend we couldn’t do this, we loved bringing this to you all and watching it become such a successful annual event.
We are even more pumped for next year’s event in 2022 with more participants and an even bigger, better championship, fingers are crossed for a covid free year.
The weekend ended with the IORK Bathurst teams endurance race which was meant to be a “social race”. However, it was just as intense as every other race over the weekend. It was sold out with many grouping up to make a team to finish off a great weekend. Twelve teams battling it out in a very close race that went down to the wire, with the best pit strategies getting on the podium and winning the race.
As promised, we have put together an Early Bird Deal available to our loyal IORK participants from 2020 and 2021, even if you couldn’t make it to the event we still appreciate you trying and we would love you to join us next year to make it the biggest IORK event so far.
IORK 2022 will be held over the weekend off Friday the 19th to Sunday the 21st August.
