Welcome to Term 4!
In this edition:
A Joyful Welcome to Our New Kindy Families. Towards the end of last term Deb and I met with all our new kindy students for 2025 it was a truly special to welcome our newest Kindy children and their families. It was a delight to meet such a vibrant, enthusiastic group of young learners full of curiosity, energy, and excitement for the journey ahead. Early childhood education is a cornerstone of lifelong learning, and we know that when families are actively engaged in their child’s schooling, the benefits are profound. Parents, carers, and families are a child’s first and most influential teachers, and we are thrilled to partner with you in nurturing your child’s growth. At Coolbinia, we’re proud of the many initiatives we have in place to help new families feel connected and supported. From community events to classroom engagement, we aim to make every parent feel welcome and every child feel seen and valued. Having now met many of our new families, it’s clear that our community is growing stronger. The warmth, creativity, and love that these children bring from home is evident in every conversation, every smile, and every interaction. It’s a joy to see how well-prepared and confident they are, thanks to the rich and stimulating environments they’ve come from. We believe that a high-quality Kindy experience, followed by a strong primary education, sets children up for success not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. And it all begins with a nurturing home-learning environment, which so many of our families have clearly provided. To all our new families: thank you for choosing Coolbinia. We’re so excited to walk alongside you and your children as they begin this wonderful adventure. Together, we’ll make these early years full of learning, laughter, and lasting memories. Fostering Inclusion, Responsibility and Leadership at CoolbiniaAt Coolbinia Primary School, we believe that true character is revealed in how we treat others especially those who may not have the power to help or harm us. This powerful idea, drawn from a book I’m currently reading, deeply resonates with the culture we are nurturing here. It speaks to the heart of our values: kindness, respect, and the importance of giving rather than taking. Our student leadership program is a shining example of these values in action. It’s bringing out the best in our children, encouraging them to take responsibility, show empathy, and build positive relationships. These are not just leadership skills they are life skills. We want our students to understand that strong relationships are built on trust, generosity, and mutual respect. Children learn best by example. One of my fondest childhood memories is of visiting my Godfather, one of my dad’s closest friends. Their laughter, storytelling, and genuine connection left a lasting impression on me. It taught me the value of joyful, respectful relationships something we see reflected every day at Coolbinia. Our staff model these behaviours through their interactions, and our students mirror what they see: kindness, cooperation, and care. Giving comes in many forms through our words, actions, and attitudes. We see our students holding doors open, using polite language, and looking out for one another. These small acts of kindness are powerful indicators of the inclusive and respectful environment we strive to maintain. Gratitude and grace are intangible qualities, yet they are the foundation of a thriving school community. When respect and trust are present, students feel safe to take risks in their learning. They know they are supported—not just by their teachers, but by their peers. This is why we see our students growing in confidence, making meaningful progress, and taking pride in their achievements. Coolbinia is more than a school it’s a community where character, compassion, and connection are celebrated every day. A Warm Welcome to Dom Casci, Specialist Chaplain for Term 4!We’re pleased to welcome Domenica (Dom) Casci as our Specialist Chaplain at Coolbinia Primary School for Term 4. Dom brings many years of experience in supporting students, families, and staff across several primary and high schools. Her focus is on wellbeing, emotional support, and helping students build confidence and resilience during key transitions such as the move to high school. Dom works closely with the school psychologist, teachers, and parents to provide a caring, confidential space where students can talk, problem-solve, and feel supported. She will be at Coolbinia on alternate Mondays (even weeks) and every Friday this term. If you’d like to connect with Dom or learn more about how she can support your child, please feel free to contact the school. Meet Sabrina - School Canteen!I’m Sabrina, a Pastry Chef and the owner of Maya’s Bakery, as well as the proud mum of the Coolbinia Primary School. I’m passionate about creating fresh, homemade food made from scratch, using quality ingredients to ensure every meal is both delicious and nourishing. Coolbinia has been a special part of my life for the past 10 years. Two of my daughters are still at Coolbinia, and my oldest completed her primary school there. It brings me so much joy to contribute to a community that has been such an important part of our family’s journey. I love preparing meals that bring smiles to both students and parents from healthy lunches to special treats with the goal of making food that feels like home. Outside of the kitchen, my family and I share a love for basketball, which keeps us active and connected. Whether we’re cheering from the sidelines or playing together, basketball is a big part of our family life. I look forward to getting to know everyone and helping make the Coolbinia Canteen a place you’ll love to visit!
You're Invited to the Edu Dance Concert!Dear Parents and Caregivers, We are excited to invite you to our Edu Dance Concert, where students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will showcase the fantastic dance routines they’ve been working on each week throughout Term 4. The joy, determination, and creativity they’re showing is truly inspiring. You can see it in their smiles, their moves, and the way they encourage each other this is learning through movement at its finest! The concert is more than just a performance! Looking After Our Library Books! Our school library is a much-loved space where students can explore, imagine, and grow as readers. To keep our collection strong and filled with great books, we rely on everyone to take care of the books they borrow. Occasionally, books go missing or are returned damaged. While we do our best to repair them, some are beyond repair. Replacing these books can be costly. For example, over the last few years, the cost of lost and damaged books has added up to hundreds of dollars annually. This money could otherwise be spent on new books for all students to enjoy. To help keep things fair and ensure our collection stays up to date, families will now be automatically charged for books that are lost or damaged at the end of each term.
We understand that accidents happen, and we really appreciate your support in looking after our books so they can be shared and enjoyed by everyone. Together, we can ensure the library remains a wonderful resource for all students.
Robogals Drone WorkshopIn the final week of last term, our Year 5 girls took to the skies in an exciting Drone Workshop delivered by Robogals Perth in collaboration with Squadrone. Building on the robotics incursion held earlier in the year, the two-hour session offered students hands-on experience flying real drones while exploring drone safety and coding simulations. As part of our Girls in STEM program, this initiative continues to inspire and empower our students to discover future pathways in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The workshop was a tremendous success, with students demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm, teamwork, and curiosity throughout the session.
