What's On in the Arts in Central Otago - September

The Bannockburn Art Exhibition is an event I eagerly
anticipate. Its opening is a journey to the heart of Bannockburn, winding past vineyards and along gravel roads to paddock parking. The exhibition is shown in the Cairnmuir Woolshed which has all the characteristics of a well-used farming building - but once you step inside you are treated to a fabulous art show curated by local experts! The exhibition opens on Friday the 18th, and continues on Saturday and Sunday, the 19th and 20th of October, from 10 am to 3:30 pm. It's an experience not to be missed. The annual Bannockburn Art Festival in the iconic Cairnmuir Station Woolshed will feature new work from our local artists plus invited guest artists. Get along for a Bannockburn experience and view or purchase a diverse range of work including watercolour and oil paintings, photography, sculpture, mixed media works, ceramics and more. This year's exhibition will also include an exciting
new category of small works. Popular favourites on show include sculpture and paintings by Odelle Morshius; artwork by Gail de Jong, Megan Huffadine, and Maurice Middleditch; photography by local photographers Tim Hawkins, Celia Walmsley, Martin Anderson and Rowan Klevstul; ceramics by Robert Franklin; beaded and wire jewellery by Jennifer Hay; plus inspiring work from guest artists. There’s something for everyone to view and why not make a day of it by also visiting local art studios and galleries plus the wonderful local wineries. The experience is absolutely worth it.
