Hockey Calgary is thrilled to invite all coaches to participate in the 2024 Coach Leadership Day conference on October 16. This event will offer a diverse range of on- and off-ice topics designed to equip coaches with actionable strategies that seek to ensure that they have the tools they need to create a supportive and impactful environment that will positively shape the lives of young athletes. Be sure to mark your calendars, as registration for Coach Leadership Day will open later this month! Hockey Calgary and our Elite Associations in partnership with Hockey Alberta are pleased to announce some structural changes to the way the AA leagues operate. Effective for the 2024-25 season the AEHL will be expanded from a AAA league only to host and govern the AA leagues as well. This will include the addition of U13 AA, U15 AA, U16 AA, and U18 AA, to the existing AEHL AAA leagues which previously only encompassed U15 AAA, U17 AAA, and U18 AAA. While these new leagues will operate provincially under the AEHL umbrella, the AA leagues will remain focused on ‘regional play’, therefore the Calgary Division will only encompass games in Calgary against Calgary teams for U13 AA and U15 AA, with a small interlock with southern Alberta for U16 AA and U18 AA. This change aligns the AEHL with the AFHL and incorporates all AA and AAA hockey in the province for both male and female programs under one banner and governing body. There will still be some regional differences to account for some of the challenges that each regional area faces but all schedules, standings, and statistics will be found in one location. Last week Hockey Calgary hosted our annual Timbits Learn to Play Program! A total of 340 first time Timbit players had the opportunity to experience U7 Timbits Hockey in a FUN and educational environment. The atmosphere in the rink was electric throughout the entirety of the four-day event, as these players learnt the FUNdamentals of hockey and forged new friendships. Take a look at the video below to catch a glimpse of this year's program! |
