Octalarm software version 2.8.1 is being rolled out in phases

Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing software version 2.8.1 for all Octalarm alarm diallers. In addition to the usual security updates, this version also includes a number of functional improvements.

For example, the ‘Switch output’ function has been added, deactivated alarms are once again visible on the dashboard — even on units with more than 8 inputs — and the large clock has been restored to the dashboard.

These changes improve the functionality and ease of use of the Octalarm alarm panels.

Phased roll-out

The software update is being rolled out in phases, in batches of 1,000 panels. As a result, it may take several weeks for the update notification to appear on a specific panel.

If you manage multiple detectors, it is possible that one detector may receive the update before another.

We strongly recommend that you install the software update on your own detectors and also actively contact your customers to ensure they carry out this update.

Your customers can carry out the update themselves as soon as the message “New software is available” appears on the alarm detector’s display. The update process is safe and takes approximately 15 seconds, meaning the alarm is only briefly interrupted.
