Our first spotlight feature introduces our Royal Literary Fund Fellow, Jeremy Treglown, who is available for additional writing support for students on any law programme. We are delighted to welcome Jeremy Treglown to the Law School. Jeremy holds a Fellowship of the Royal Literary Fund, offering individual coaching sessions throughout the year to support you in developing good writing practice, tailoring each session to your own needs.Over to Jeremy: “My role is to help you with your writing. I am a published author and have been a university teacher myself, as well as an editor of The Times Literary Supplement. So whether you feel you are just getting started or are already a confident writer, I’m very happy to help you take the next step forward. Just get in touch and we can talk about how I can best support you. Your Voice We are pleased to welcome new student Departmental Officers, Misturah Sonaite and Edward Barradell to lead the student Academic Representative team this year. We’d love you to engage with your student Academic Representatives to ensure your voice is heard. We’ll be having our first meeting of the Student Staff Liaison Committee later this term and look forward to reporting back to you on discussions there. Community MattersWe are planning some great opportunities to meet your law school community - students and staff - informally during the term to come.Our first one is for LLB Year 2 and LLB Year 3 students on Wednesday 26 October at 5.30pm in the Amory Building C501. It will be a chance for all students to chat and network with Law School staff, with drinks and snacks provided! Keep an eye out for further invitations. We’re also gearing up for a great year of extra-curricular and networking opportunities, whether within the School, including the Law Clinic and our Research Centres, or through the careers team, or law societies. In this section we also like to celebrate the activities of our vibrant community. This week Professor Richard Moorhead's research with the Evidence Based Justice Lab has been presented to the ongoing Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. He also chaired an expert panel on trust and ethics during the 'Reshaping Legal Services' conference. For more on the exciting and impactful research within the Law School click here. The Law Student Triathlon Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 April 2023 A true test of mental agility and endurance! Would you fancy representing the University of Exeter Law School in April next year? The triathlon is a truly immersive experience and gives you the opportunity to meet a number of practitioners and get exposed to an array of legal skills. During the event a team of 2 students will be asked to perform a negotiation, a piece of first instance advocacy and then a moot. Watch a video of the first National Law Student Triathlon.
