Nor'West Arc cycleway extension, street renewal and wastewater work in Bryndwr

Final project update - it's a wrap!

We want to say big thank you from us as we wrap up for the Christmas break. Your patience has been greatly appreciated by everyone who's worked on the project this year. 

The photos below were taken on 12 December and show what great progress has been made!

The newly completed cycleway, footpath  and berms along Aorangi Road.

Cycleway on Aorangi Road (north and south)

The cycleway is now paved and complete and all major construction work in the southern and northern sections of Aorangi Road (between Brookside Terrace and Condell Ave) has finished.

 The work includes:

·       Pavement finishing

·       Footpath upgrades

·       Cycleway connections

·       Drainage and network improvements

·       Kerb and channel reinstatement

·       Permanent signage, tactiles and marking

Just a reminder that the berms along the road side of the new cycleway will be maintained by Isaac for two years following project completion, whereupon the Council will take over maintenance.

Speed consultation decision

Christchurch City Councillors decided against proposed lower speed limits for streets associated with the Nor’West Arc cycleway at their meeting on 10 December.

People could provide their feedback between 19 September – 31 October at letstalk.ccc.govt.nz/nor-west-arc-cycleway-speed-limit-changes

The speed limit on Aorangi Road, Condell Avenue and Matsons Avenue will remain at 50km/h

Final touches

Our contractor, Isaac Construction, will return in mid-January to undertake some small tidy-up jobs. This will include improvements to the road surface at the intersection of Aorangi/Colwyn. 

New street trees will be planted during planting season in April.
