- Grant Writing Club: Designed for anyone in the grant writing process, provides peer feedback on grants prior to or after to submission.
Meets Tuesdays evenings at 5:30 PM, quarterly in the HUB6520/virtually. Participants should send a draft of their grant 1-2 weeks prior to the meeting for dissemination to peer reviewers. Froedtert Health Research Chargemaster Updated for FY23 The Research Chargemaster is a tool used by researchers and their teams to obtain pricing requests for time-sensitive preliminary/estimate budgets, grant applicants, and study financial feasibility reviews for Froedtert Health entities. The tool has been updated with new fees for FY23 and is available on InfoScope.
Clinical Research Tip of the Month Consideration for inpatient studies Always have the PI, Sub-I, or CRC check with the attending or fellow prior to enrollment. Sometimes their plan differs from what's in the chart and could cause issues with study
procedures or potentially exclude the patient. They're usually willing to help out as well. Always talk to the subject's nurse about the study and what you may require of them. Sometimes creating a tip sheet for them containing the required tasks along with your contact information helps keep the clinical team aware of the study and may assist you with study procedures.

NIH Director's New Innovator Award Program (DP2)
$1.5 million/5 years
GCO deadline: August 12, 2022
Application due: August 19, 2022 PI must be an Early State Investigator, as identified in their eRA Commons profile. Proposals must be highly innovative with the potential for unusually high impact; preliminary data not required. Awardees are given unusual flexibility to pivot research direction as they see fit to maximize research impact.
Elsa U. Pardee Foundation Grant
No limit on funding, up to 1 year
Proposal due in eBridge: August 24, 2022
Application due: August 31, 2022 The Foundation funds projects which will allow establishment of capabilities of new cancer researchers, or new cancer approaches by established cancer researchers. It is anticipated that this early stage funding by the Foundation may lead to subsequent and expanded support using government agency funding. Project relevance to cancer detection, treatment, or cure should be clearly identified.
NIH Director's Transformative Research Award (R01)
$8 million for 7 awards
GCO deadline: August 26, 2022
Application due: September 3, 2022 Open to all career stages, single or multiple PI allowed, no preliminary data or detailed experimental plan required, flexible budget. NIH strongly encourages women and individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply and all topics relevant to the mission of NIH are welcome.
NIH Director's Pioneer Award Program (DP1)
$700,000/year over 5 years
GCO deadline: September 2, 2022
Application due: September 9, 2022 Preliminary data and detailed experimental plans are not requested. This program requires proposed research that is substantially different from those being pursued by the PI's current research program. Awardees are required to commit 51% effort in the first 3 years, reduced down to 33% in year 4 and 25% in year 5.
Freeman Hrabowski Scholars Program
$2 million over 5 year appointment
GCO deadline: September 21, 2022
Application due: September 28, 2022 For core biomedical science areas; clinical research and research on health education, delivery, and services are not likely to be supported. First tenure-track position must have begun on or after 7/1/2018. 80% of time must be spent on research.
