Give your feedback - list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation & other minor Guidelines changes

Public comment period closes 22 February 2024

Proposals will interest anyone who needs to complete steps 4 and 5 of the categorisation process to see if their introduction can be in the exempted or reported category.

The main aspect of this proposal relates to simplifying the requirement for introducers to check if their chemical is an ester or salt of a chemical on the 'List of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation'. You can also read about other minor changes to the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines.

Update on Sept-Nov 2023 consultation: changes to categorisation, reporting and record keeping

Thanks to everyone that made a submission last year about proposed amendments to the Industrial Chemicals (General) Rules 2019 and Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines. We reviewed all responses.

What's happening?

  • We’re seeking feedback on other changes to the Categorisation Guidelines (see notice above) that we foreshadowed in September 2023.
  • Processes to consider and make amendments are on track, with an aim to commence any amendments in April 2024. We’ll announce any changes around a month before they take effect. We’ll also publish our response to the feedback that we received.
