From the MayorI had the absolute pleasure this week of presenting the inaugural Ku-ring-gai Women’s Leadership and Inspiration Award. The award celebrates local women who are making a real difference in Ku-ring-gai through leadership, advocacy and action.
Congratulations to this year’s recipient Andrea Doney, highly commended Cate Sinclair and all of the nominees. You can read more about these remarkable women in the story below. I’m also proud to announce our exciting new partnership with Dress for Success and the Ku-ring-gai Status of Women Advisory Committee to run a community clothes drive. This initiative will provide women with professional clothing suitable for job interviews and employment. It’s a practical but effective way for us as a community to support women striving for independence and economic security. Did you know that Ku-ring-gai Library is celebrating its 80th birthday this year? Our first library opened on 24 November 1945 at the Council Chambers in Gordon. To celebrate this major milestone, the Library is sharing 80 images from its 80 year history, over a period of 80 days. You can view the wonderful collection of images on the Library Facebook page and our website. Have a lovely weekend. Mayor Christine Kay
