Policy Transfer Request

The following information must be provided to the SLIP+ team before a policy can be transferred from one agent (relinquishing agent) to another (assuming agent).  

  • Transfer of Business form - both sections must be completed and signed by the agents (the relinquishing and assuming agent signatures are required).  

For Broker of Record (BOR) transfer requests, the SLIP+ team needs a copy of the BOR letter in addition to the Transfer of Business form.  

If an agency is unable to obtain a signature from the relinquishing agent, please email the SLIP+ team at info@slipplus.com with an explanation of the circumstances and the supporting documentation referenced above. 

Submitting these items proactively helps expedite the transfer process to allow assuming agents to begin reporting endorsements on transferred policies and reduces questioned transactions.

Alabama: Service of Process

To complete the service of process fields, enter the carrier’s registered agent or legal department contact. This entity should be the person designated by the insurer to receive legal notices or lawsuits related to the policy.  

Example:   
If you write a policy with  ABC INSURANCE CO, search on the NIPR lookup for the SOP posted under Contact. When a legal first and last name is not provided, customers should enter the company name in two segments to satisfy the fields.  

Alabama DOI also states that if no Service of Process contact is publicly listed, the Alabama Department of Insurance may serve as the Service of Process. Review their page for more details:

Colorado and Kansas: Questioned Legacy Endorsements

If you have entered credit endorsements on policies previously filed to legacy platforms, they will be questioned (TIQ) pending review and approval by the Kansas Department of Insurance or the Colorado Division of Insurance. Once the credit is entered, the SLIP+ team will work with the Kansas Department of Insurance or the Colorado Division of Insurance to facilitate the review and approval of each credit transaction. Because each credit requires the state to manually confirm taxes were reported and paid in the legacy system, clearing TIQs for credits on legacy policies will take longer than standard TIQ acceptance. To expedite the TIQ review and approval process for legacy credits, please email the following information to the SLIP+ team: 

  • Confirmation or proof of the original tax filing and payment with the state 
  • A copy of the return premium or cancellation endorsement 

Accepted transactions will be included in the subsequent state tax invoice upon approval by the state.  Please contact the SLIP+ team if you have any questions on TIQs or legacy endorsement filings.
