Dear Customer,

In this issue of the ICT International Newsletter, we are pleased to provide updates from our key partners – Amphasys AG, Walz GmbH and CID-Bioscience.

Pollen Analyser using AMPHA Z32 and latest news from Amphasys AG

Are you into pollen science? Are you finding your research pointing towards a better understanding of pollen and how the pollen of your plants is affected by climate change, environmental variables, and management practices? Are you looking to optimise your seed production? Do you work in plant breeding? If your answer to any of these questions is a resounding yes, then the AMPHAZ32 Pollen Analyser is a product that can certainly assist you. The product is manufactured by Amphasys AG, from Switzerland, who revolutionized pollen analysis using Impedance Flow Cytometry. If you want to learn more about the technology, please click this link.

This year, Amphasys participated in UC Davis Seed Central Innovator Showcase. You can view the recording of the event and learn more about the instrument’s range of application here.

A recent blog that focused on one of the key parameters in hybrid wheat seed production can also be read from here.

Upcoming product and latest accessories from Walz

Due to insistent public demand, Walz GmbH will be releasing the Mobile IMAGING-PAM Chlorophyll Fluorometer this year. The Mobile IMAGING-PAM takes much of the hardware of the IMAGING-PAM MINI Version. Some of you will be familiar with the portability and suitability of IMAGING-PAM MINI Version for field application. The development of the instrument is described in Linn et al., 2020 whose work provided in-field estimation of herbicide sensitivity in crops and weeds.  When the Mobile IMAGING-PAM is released, you can perform chlorophyll fluorescence imaging (PAM techniques) in the field to measure leaves, small plants, ground vegetation and photosynthetic crusts (biocrusts) in an area of 2.4 x 3.2 cm. In conjunction with this imaging device, Walz also builds shutter boxes to dark acclimate samples for Fo, Fm, induction curve and light curve measurements. We will keep you posted in the coming weeks for the official release.

Walz GmbH added 3 new accessories for various fluorometer systems. These are:

90° Measuring Head Holder (DUAL-H90). This accessory for the DUAL-PAM-100 and the MULTI-COLOR-PAM Fluorometers consists of a right-angle bracket made-up of black anodised aluminium and metal rod to attach to a laboratory stand. Each bracket arm has a special adapter to position a measuring head. In DUAL-PAM-100 application, this accessory is used for simultaneous recording of short and long wavelength chlorophyll fluorescence of leaf samples, while in MULTI-COLOR-PAM, it is used in the assessment of epidermal UV-screening.

90° Measuring Head Holder

Conversion Kit (2035-B/RLC). This kit is a small accessory designed for field experiments in which photosynthesis is driven exclusively by the fluorometer’s internal light source. The 2035-B/RLC kit is especially suitable for rapid light curve (RLC) experiments in outdoor studies and used in conjunction with 2035-B and 2030-B Leaf Clip Holder.

Sample Tubes for PHYTO- and WATER-PAM (K5SET). This accessory is a set of 5 standard glass cuvettes with acceptable background noise for measurements of samples of medium algae concentration (suitable up to Photomultiplier Gain 18).  The K5SET Sample Tubes can be used as a cheap alternative to the Quartz Cuvette WATER-K.

CID-Bioscience Latest Product Upgrade

CID-Bioscience is now ready to take orders for the CI-710s Spectravue Leaf Spectrometer. The newly redesigned CI-710s now covers both visible and near infrared (NIR) light spectrum for simultaneous measurement of transmission, absorption, and reflectance. Taking spectral data from samples in the field is a breeze with its 7” IPS display, lightweight form factor (952g) and built-in analysis software. If you are taking spectral measurements for plant stress, quantification of chemical concentrations, colour analysis, even the quantification of physical or optical properties such as film thickness, index refraction and extinction coefficient, then the CI-710s Spectravue is the instrument you need. If you are interested to know more about this product and for pricing, please email us.
