June 2025

June marks Pride Month — a time to celebrate the resilience, diversity, and contributions of LGBTQ+ communities across the country. This month, to honor the progress made and recognize the work being done to ensure systems that support dignity, safety, and health for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, are accessible to all Illinoisans, the following resources are available from the Managed Care Organizations (MCO) in Illinois:

  • Aetna Better Health of Illinois (ABHIL): LGBTQ+ Health Benefits and Resources | Aetna
  • BlueCross BlueShield Illinois (BCBSIL): stands by our core values of integrity, respect, commitment, caring and excellence. We work together with our LGBTQ employees to better understand the health care needs of our LGBTQ members. LGBTQ Health Care and Support | Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois
  • Humana: While there is growing emphasis on collecting accurate sex and gender information from patients, this resource was created to assist providers in discussing these topics while maintaining patient trust and high quality of care: How to ask your senior patients about sexuality and gender
  • Meridian: is proud to partner with LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare providers and visibly show our support by participating in Pride Month events across Illinois. Enhance your clinical knowledge and participate in our free, instructor‑led training course focused on empathy and advocacy for LGBTQ+ youth and families.
  • Molina Healthcare: Find community resources in your area with MolinaHelpFinder.com. You can search “LGBTQ+” to find resources that specifically support the LGBTQ+ community. You can also get help finding basic needs like food, housing, work, legal, and more.
  • UnitedHealthcare: recognizes that understanding and compassion go a long way. UnitedHealthcare Advocates are specially trained — in collaboration with the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center — to provide LGBTQ+ members and allies with a welcoming, open environment designed for easier conversations.
