Decision to approve new export log fumigant

A decision-making committee of the EPA has approved an application for a new gas to fumigate export logs and timber. EDN is a new tool to kill common pests found in wood. It is a potential alternative to methyl bromide, which is now heavily restricted.

Xivana approved

A new fungicide to combat late blight in tomatoes and potato crops, and downy mildew in onions, has been approved for use in Aotearoa New Zealand, subject to conditions.

Hydrogen cyanamide reassessment update

Restricted entry intervals for specific pesticides

WorkSafe is seeking public feedback on updated restricted entry intervals for 98 substances.

This restriction covers the period of time after a pesticide has been applied to an area, during which pesticide residues are likely to be present and could affect the health of workers re-entering the area.

The proposed new intervals are open for consultation until 6 May 2022.
