Scotch College eNewsletter – Mon 28 Jul 2025

Our fortnightly news and a key resource for current families.

From the Headmaster

Dear Scotch Community,

While I should not be surprised, it still catches me out during a Headmaster’s Tour by the delight of prospective parents when our Head of Junior School and I speak about the role of reading for boys.

Many assume we’ve reduced our focus on hard copy books due to the rise of digital access. In reality, we haven’t, and as long as I’m at the College, books and reading for boys will remain a priority and should never be replaced by digital alternatives.

Today, far too many children are occupied with devices. Parents play a central role in modelling reading. So, how can you help?
