Merlande LaGuerre Receives Cabral Nursing Scholarship 

Merlande LaGuerre is the 2024 recipient of the $2,000 Sandra M. Cabral Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship, established in 2000, honors the noteworthy contributions to the field of nursing made by former LifeStream employee Sandra M. Cabral, who was a registered nurse and nursing coordinator. It is awarded annually to one student pursuing an accredited Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse degree at an accredited facility and committed to assisting people with disabilities in community-based settings.

Merlande joined LifeStream in 2022 as a Personal Advocate and previously worked as a CNA at Premier Health Systems. She is currently enrolled at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts and resides in New Bedford.

LifeStream Partners with United Way to Empower Employees with Financial Wellness Program

In partnership with United Way, LifeStream is proud to offer Financial Wellness at Work as part of our health and wellness benefits package for all LifeStream employees. This program is a free, on-site service designed to help employees take control of their financial futures. This innovative program is a result of our strong collaboration with United Way and is tailored to support the financial well-being of our workforce. By hosting LifeStream’s Financial Resource Coordinator directly into the workplace, we are   United Way coordinators directly into the workplace, we are giving our employees access to expert financial coaching, workshops, and a wealth of resources—all in a confidential setting.

How this Partnership Benefits Our Employees:

Through our collaboration with area businesses and United Way, LifeStream employees now have access to:

  • Personalized Financial Coaching: One-on-one, confidential sessions with trained coaches to help employees navigate crisis management, develop sound financial habits, and identify helpful resources.
  • Workshops for Financial Health: Year-round workshops that teach healthy financial practices and provide families with access to services aimed at building long-term wealth.
  • Small-Dollar Loans: Low-cost loans offered through a local credit union to help employees handle short-term cash flow issues while building credit.

This program is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the overall well-being of our staff. By working closely with United Way, we’re ensuring our employees have the tools and support they need to make informed financial decisions that positively impact their lives.

Made possible in part by a grant from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation, through a partnership with United Way Worldwide, this initiative directly benefits our employees by empowering them to take control of their financial well-being.
