Work opportunity at QED

We are looking for a Facilitator for our Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Adult &Tertiary Teaching.

Our current facilitator has scored the NZ White Sox Manager role for 2 years, and we need another person on our team.

- Do you have a strong reputation as an active learning facilitator/trainer and experience delivering the NZ Certificate in Adult &Tertiary Teaching level 4 or above?

- Do you hold at least a level 5 qualification in Adult Education and Training?

- Do you live in the greater Auckland area?

- Is standards-based assessment one of your strengths?

If so, give Andy Leader a call on 027 222 4180

We currently have three two-day level 4 workshops scheduled for 2025 that we are looking to find a facilitator for:

  • Module 1 - Plan and Prepare for training and education on the 7th & 8th of August
  • Module 2 - Deliver and review training & education on the 4th & 5th of September
  • Module 3 - Assess performance on the 7th & 8th of May

All delivery materials and planning are pre-prepared and Andy will team-teach these three workshops with you to ease you into the role and the QED approach to facilitation.

If successful we can then offer you further facilitation in the second half of the year.

Our group sizes are usually up to about 12 but most frequently less than 10, giving you the chance to work intimately with pairs or small groups.

Eyes and ears on iQAF

NZQA are replacing Evaluative in their Quality Assurance Framework with Integrative – so it goes from EQAF to iQAF. We’ve had a couple of unofficial conversations with NZQA about how the review is going… they’re still planning to retire EER this year, so are not allowed to schedule or postpone anything beyond December.

We will know more after our slightly more official discussion with NZQA in mid-March, but at this stage, the replacement is likely to be some kind of annual monitoring “conversation”. It seems they’re going to be more focused on a risk-based approach, with a few warning lights that can go off their end, say through poor monitoring outcomes.

This is another exciting thing about the Dacreed platform that QED has developed content for. We started with a focus on compliance and soon realised that the evidence needed to include outcomes as well as a record of good practice. Our team are highly confident that methodical records of good practice are going to become even more important for NZQA – one of our key stakeholders.  To learn more about Dacreed or what we learned from NZQA in March, email Dana -  dana@qedassociates.co.nz.

Congratulations to ...

It’s great to hear about the success our clients have achieved with the support of our team.

Staff Training for 2025

How many of your training staff hold the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT) level 4 or 5?

It’s not enough for staff to be skilled and qualified in their trade or profession; to meet NZQA and Workforce Development Council standards, they should also hold a Teacher or Trainer qualification.

QED Associates is a Category 1 provider specialising in adult education and training, we offer Level 4 and 5 NZCATT qualifications since their inception.

So how do your staff get these qualifications?  We have made it really simple!
For the level 4 NZCATT they complete 3 x two day workshops;

  • Module 1 - Plan and Prepare for training US 7093 & US 29690
  • Module 2 - Facilitate and review training US 29692 & US 29693
  • Module 3 - Assess trainee performance US 4098

That’s it - just 3 workshops with two days of face-to-face training and on-the-job assignments, all for an early bird rate of $700 + GST per workshop.

If they already hold the Level 4 qualification, it’s time to step up to Level 5!

Did you know that Polytechnics, advantaged in TEC funding, recognise the Level 5 NZCATT as the minimum teacher/trainer qualification for their staff? They leverage this to secure funding, often at the expense of PTEs. If your staff only hold the Level 4 NZCATT, your organisation may be at a disadvantage.

So we have made it easier for your staff to gain the Level 5 NZCATT

If your staff already hold these assessment unit standards:

  • 11551 - Quality assure and moderate assessments (QED Module 6)
  • 11552 - Design and evaluate assessments (QED Module 7)

They only need to complete three more modules to earn the NZ Certificate in Adult & Tertiary Training (Level 5):

  • Module 4 - Plan & prepare for advanced learner-centered learning, (US 29689) Design and prepare adult learning sessions for diverse contexts.
  • Module 5 - Facilitate advanced learner-centered learning, (US 29691) Apply adult teaching theories to facilitate learning sessions.
  • Module 8 - Review and improve own education and training practice, (US 7110) Evaluate and enhance professional knowledge in adult education.

To make it even easier to ‘step up’ to the Level 5 NZCATT, we've combined the five Level 5 modules into two intensive 3-day workshops:

  • Modules 6 & 7 - 3 days face to face workshop and on the job assignments - $1,200+GST earlybird rate
  • Modules 4, 5 & 8 - 3 days face to face workshop and on the job assignments - $1,550+GST earlybird rate

A small investment of time and money can equip your team with advanced skills and qualifications for 2025.

Check out the dates for our workshops below!

Note: If the scheduled dates don’t suit, please contact Andy or Dana to discuss alternative dates and cost savings by customising the training at your location.

Email Dana Brown at admin@qedassociates.co.nz or call Andy Leader on 027 222 4180 to secure a place on QED Associates Professional Development Programme.

QED’s new training venue

In an effort to provide another accessible training venue for our participants on the NZ Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching qualifications we have formed a relationship with LifeSkills (formally Skills Update) to use their premises at 8 Te Pai Place, Henderson, West Auckland for the delivery of our popular Modules 1 to 8.

This new venue provides a modern, purpose-built training facility for QED participants and facilitators based in the North and West of Auckland and avoids travelling into the city and the parking hassles that often accompany such areas.

We are able to use well-equipped, comfortable training rooms including the Boardroom and there are many cafes and other eateries in the immediate area for lunch.

We look forward to a long term relationship with our friends at LifeSkills.
