Footy Clinic with AFL champion Paddy McCartinOur friends at Medtronic will be hosting a free footy clinic with special guest, former AFL champion Paddy McCartin from the Sydney Swans, on Sunday 9 November and you are all invited! Diagnosed with T1D at the age of 8, Paddy McCartin went on to play AFL for the Sydney Swans and St Kilda. Join Paddy and the Medtronic team for a kick, hear his inspiring story of resilience and discover what's possible with T1D. This year it looks a little different, instead of collecting them in the waiting room on the iPad, you will receive a text message prior to your clinic visit. DiabHQ App RolloutWe are very excited to let you know that the DiabHQ App will be rolled out to eligible families from November. If you have consented to DiabHQ, you will automatically be sent an email invitation that allows you to download the App when the rollout reaches your clinic.
E-Safety for early yearsWe know technology is an important part of navigating type 1 diabetes, we also know navigating technology with younger children can be difficult at times. So, we have asked the PCH Diabetes Social Work team for their tips on online safety for under five-year-olds.
New Omnipod 5Would you or your child like to experience using the Omnipod 5 patch pump? We are looking for participants aged 2 – 24 years, who have been living with type 1 diabetes for more than 12 months and are currently using either insulin injections or tubed insulin pump to manage their diabetes.
We need your help!At what level do you treat hypos? We would like to find out whether your hypo treatment level can be revised and individualised to manage your diabetes safely. Diabetes researchers at PCH are looking for participants aged 6-25 years to join their 'Redefining Hypo Thresholds for Hypo Treatment' study. Research findingsThank you to the more than 270 respondents to our 'Revisiting hypoglycaemia management in children with type 1 diabetes on contemporary therapy' survey. We want to provide you an update on the first stage of this study and thank you for your participation.
T1D Telethon ChampionWe are proud to have so many very talented and passionate children and youth in our T1D community. Last weekend was Telethon, and 12-year-old Lucas, who lives with T1D, spent his Sunday jumping and then riding to help raise funds for a very important cause. Congratulations Lucas!
