An imminent US supreme court decision means that abortion is likely to be made illegal in large parts of the country. A draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito, which was leaked to news outlet Politico, appears to show the court voting to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling that gave women broad access to terminations.

We asked an expert to read over the document to help us understand what it says and what we should expect next. She reveals that if the leaked paper is real – and all sides are indeed treating it as such – it is essentially a done deal. It’s rare for the court to turn back on a decision at this stage of the process.

In London, a major new exhibition of Raphael’s works is prompting fans to consider the Italian artist in a new light. And in Ukraine, a strategy is emerging to fight back against Russia.

We’re hoping to find 1,000 new donors in our fundraising campaign this month. If you value the sort of expert insights you read on The Conversation, please consider supporting us today. Any donation however large or small is hugely appreciated and helps us to continue to bring expertise to the public. As ever, a huge vote of thanks to our existing donors for their support.
