The stage is set for a new era that celebrates the need for and the benefits of collaboration and transparency while embracing circular economy thinking. At GECA, we have a unique blend of skill sets, expertise and connections to help organisations and individuals reach their circular economy goals. With this in mind, I'm delighted to announce the publication of our action paper - GECA Solutions for a Circular Economy.

FX Australia
FX Australia manufactures a remarkable collection of specialised, high-end architectural paints and purpose-formulated coatings for a comprehensive range of decorative, commercial and industrial applications. We spoke to them about why they became GECA certified and the impact that it has had on their business.
New Licensee: Hydrogel
Hydrogel Concrete Solutions is a flexible, full-service, price-competitive provider of concrete treatment products and services. They have certified their integral sealer for concrete under our Paints & Coatings standard.

Airestec focuses on developing bio-based, green and eco-friendly solutions across a diverse range of sectors. They have recently certified under our Cleaning Products standard.

Abco Products has extensive experience and expert product knowledge in the industrial and commercial cleaning field to support their customers' unique needs. They have recertified under our Cleaning Products and Paints & Coatings standards.

ICL is a specialist supplier of cement products to various industries and major retail outlets throughout Victoria and New South Wales. They have recently recertified their Ecoblend range under our Cement, Concrete & Concrete Products standard.

REGUPOL Australia has supplied recycled, sustainable flooring solutions for over 30 years. Their vision is to continue delivering the greenest built floors in Australia. REGUPOL have recently recertified under our Floor Coverings standard.

VinylCycle Label to Recognise & Reward Use of Recycled PVC
We're thrilled to announce the launch of the new VinylCycle label! The label stems from a collaborative partnership between the Vinyl Council of Australia and GECA to verify recycled PVC content claims and encourage the uptake of recycled PVC and product design innovation. VinylCycle verification will aid specifiers, procurers, and consumers identify products with genuine recycled content to support informed procurement decisions and provide a means for product manufacturers to gain recognition for contributing to the circular economy of PVC and plastics more generally.
Join GECA and Step Up to Clean Up in 2022!
As we do each year, Team GECA will be rolling up our sleeves and participating in Business Clean Up Day in March. We encourage organisations to get involved in a COVID-safe staff clean-up event in their local area. Whether it’s a simple one-off clean up event, competitive multi-site corporate challenge or an online educational team-building session, you can involve your staff, customers and stakeholders in improving your local environment.
Sustainable Living Fabrics Launches Report
GECA licensee, Sustainable Living Fabrics, has released a new sustainability report. The publication provides a comprehensive overview of their practices from farm to fabric. We congratulate the team on their fantastic work!
Australia Has a New Battery Recycling Scheme
On 15 February, B-cycle became Australia's first official battery recycling Scheme. Administered by the Battery Stewardship Council, B-cycle offers convenient drop off points for all Australians and businesses to recycle their used batteries. The Scheme is supported by the Commonwealth and all State and Territory Governments.
Koskela Achieves B Corp Recertification
Congratulations to our lifecycle ecolabel licensee, Koskela, for completing their B Corporation certification! They've spent the last three years improving their business for communities, people and planet and have recertified with an improved score of 96.2 from 82. Amazing work!
GECA Features in Built Environment Quarterly Review
GECA's Technical Manager Rodrigo Martinez recently spoke with the team from The Built Environment Summit (Be Summit) about moving to net zero in Australia's construction sector. According to Rodrigo, lifecycle ecolabels have a pivotal role in reducing embodied carbon and increasing stakeholder collaboration is another key ingredient.

GECA is a proud member of the Materials & Embodied Carbon Leaders' Alliance (MECLA), and we're thrilled to announce the launch of their new website! The website is the go-to place for upcoming events, news and contact information. The alliance is also partnering with Supply Chain Sustainability School to bring you MECLA learning resources, access to surveys, and other materials.
