Please make sure both campers and guardians read and fully understand this year's camp process to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all. The following information contains important details regarding this year's Summer Leadership Camp, including:
Camp check-in will open:
Drop-off and parking can be found directly behind Baldwin Hall, from either E. Cass or E Porter street. Check-in takes place inside Baldwin Hall and will continue until 2:00 p.m. You may arrive any time within that window, noting that your camper will need to be settled into their dorm room before our ALL CAMP Welcome and Orientation session at 2:30 p.m. NOTE: The first meal served at camp is Sunday dinner (approximately 6 p.m.) so a meal of significance should be eaten before you arrive at check-in. Once the student is on campus, we cannot let them leave due to security policies. Click here to take a look at the Albion College campus map. CHECK-OUT: Our camp closing ceremony is open to the public and we encourage parents, guardians, and family members to attend at 11:30 a.m. on Friday After the 15-minute ceremony, students will be released to pack up and check out of their dorm room with our staff. They will not be permitted to leave until rooms are in order and their key is turned in (good leaders always clean up after themselves!) LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DEPARTURE: Summer is a busy time for our campers! We completely understand if your student has other obligations that require a late arrival or early departure from our summer camp program. If your student falls into this category, please follow this link to fill out the Late Arrival/Early Departure form. UPDATED MEDICAL INFORMATION Knowing that summer brings a ton of activities/fun for children across the state, it can also lead to a few unfortunate events…has your camper medical needs changed? Crutches - broken bones - new allergies? Please inform staff of any new ailments, injuries or medical needs that may have arisen since your initial registration. To update these needs, please contact Camp Director, Matt Alley ASAP to ensure your camper has the best experience possible. CAMP PACKING LIST: Don't forget to consult the Camp Packing List to make sure you have everything you need and leave behind what you don't! IMPORTANT: Personal Water BottleIn accordance with Albion College’s “Together Safely” action plan, water bottles will not be provided at this year’s camp (because they would all be identical!) Our traditional water stations will still be available. All students are encouraged to bring their own personalized water bottle to fill throughout our time together. WHAT TO WEAR: The dress code for camp is casual. It is usually hot outside, so shorts and summer shirts are permitted. However, the cafeteria and classrooms are air conditioned so we suggest that students carry a long sleeved t-shirt or sweatshirt with them. The dorms are NOT air-conditioned! Campers will be working both inside and outside, often sitting on the ground and being physically engaged in activities. Please pack accordingly to ensure you are able to comfortably maneuver in all scenarios. Clothing similar to what one would wear in a physical education class is recommended. Please respect other people by dressing appropriately. We highly suggest that students stick to shorts and T-shirts all week as it lends itself to be the most comfortable. Casual means flip-flops and tennis shoes. MUST-PACK ITEMS
NOTE: All registered campers will be provided with a t-shirt, cinch backpack, binder, and pen upon check-in at camp. OPTIONAL ITEMS: Musical Instrument (often, students enjoy playing during Open Recreation time or in the evenings) Exercise/Athletic clothes (ATTENTION RUNNERS: each morning, one male and one female staff member will take any interested delegates for a daily run; this is a much cooler time of the day than Open Recreation Time; there is often time during Open Recreation for pick-up games of various sports though). Money: typically students don't have much to buy while at camp, however, if they forget something listed above, they will need to have cash on them in order to process a "store run" through our staff. We do store runs the first couple of days for the students and they must have cash in order to get their missing supplies. Some students like to purchase items from the Albion School Store, or food/beverages from vending machines. $20 is usually enough to cover essentials. FAQ: QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS!
