Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant update

Concrete pour early this Friday morning 

We're getting in touch a bit earlier than usual this week to let you know about a concrete pour happening from 4am this Friday 17 July.

Around 20 truckloads (approx. 140m³) of concrete will be poured around recently installed pipework for the new activated sludge reactor. 

To support the efficient delivery of concrete and minimise impacts on the wider road network, work is scheduled to begin from approximately 4am. Concrete trucks will access and leave the site via Dyers, Ruru and Cuthberts roads (as shown on the map below).

At this stage, we do not expect the activity to create significant noise or disruption for neighbouring residents. However, there will be an increase in truck movements during the early morning period and we appreciate the community's understanding while this work is carried out.

We'll be in touch again later this week with our usual update on everything else happening at the plant. 

Gravel platform installation starting soon

The next stage of the project is due to kick off on 27 July when work to install the load transfer platform gets underway. This involves importing 23,000 tonnes of general-purpose quarry aggregate.

This stage of the project will take approximately two months as we need to install the material in layers to ensure the area is very well compacted. The compaction will involve two construction rollers moving over the area during working hours.

We'll continue to run our vibration monitors during this work and will reassess our methodology if required.
